Attention all current 6th and 7th graders who would like to try out for cheerleader for the 2016-2017 school year. There will be a MANDATORY parent and student meeting on Tuesday, February 9th at 6pm in the Lecture Hall. You and your parent or guardian MUST be in attendance to receive important details and paperwork necessary to be considered for cheerleader.

Students, help make your school cafeteria a better place to eat, please participate in this confidential survey conducted by Aramark, your school food service provider. Your responses are important to us, your cafeteria manager and staff, and your feedback will be used to help improve your cafeteria food selections and your overall dining experience.

Hernandez Middle School has several clubs and organizations available for students to participate. Come visit one of our clubs or contact the club sponsor for more information. Clubs include:

Art Club meets on Fridays from 3:45 to 4:45 in Room 717. Sponsor is Vincent Martinez.

Board and Card Games Club meets every Thursday from 3:45 to 5:00 pm. Club sponsor is Lisa Mierkiewicz. Students can bring a snack if they like. Students can bring snacks to room 705 in the morning before classes.

Chess Club meets every Wednesday from 3:45pm to 4:30pm. Chess Club is sponsored by Jean Sarre.

G.T.S.A. Club meets on Tuesday mornings from 7:40 am to 8:10 am in room 726 and is sponsored by Marco Baeza.

IB Council meets on Mondays after school until 4:00 pm. Students must submit an application at the end of the school year and be accepted to participate. Club sponsor is Desiree Le.

New Directions meets after school on Tuesdays. Contact Milton Perez.

Robotics Club meets every Tuesday from 3:45 pm to 5:00 pm. This club prepares for tournament play and membership is closed for the fall semester. Club sponsors are Irma Bauer and Octavio Villarroel.

School of Rock meets on Mondays at 3:45 pm to 4:30 pm in room 726 and is sponsored by Marco Baeza.

Spanish Club meets every other Tuesday. Club sponsor is Leyla Olano.

Download the order form and return to the main office or stop by the main office to order. All proceeds from spirit wear sales go directly back to Hernandez MS students.

It’s Boxtops time again! Be sure to save Boxtops all year and bring them to school. Boxtops will be collected through the Science department this year, so drop any Boxtops you have off with your Science teacher. The teacher that collects the most will win a treat for their classes. The first collection date will be Dec. 11. So start cutting and keep them coming! All proceeds from Boxtops benefit the library.

Students and Staff are required to wear their school issued ID badge while on campus at Hernandez Middle School.

IDs help insure that only authorized students and staff are in our building. If you lose your ID, please see Ms. Tucker in the library.

Parents, please assist us in providing a safe environment for our students and staff by insuring that your student has their ID badge when they get to school.

recycleBring your paper recycling to the yellow and green bin in the North Parking Lot by the Hernandez Middle School football field and support the Functional Academic Classroom.

Items recycled include: newspapers, magazines, mail, school and office paper and catalogs.
