Thursday during Advisory, every student will receive their official student planner for the year—their personal roadmap to staying organized and stress-free.
How to Partner with Your Child Tomorrow Evening:
Explore it Together: Take 10 minutes to flip through the pages with your student, check out the layout, and discuss how they plan to use it.
Build a Plan of Support: Decide on a simple routine at home—like a quick 2-minute daily check-in after school or dinner—so you can support their goals without micromanaging.
Set the Daily Habit: Remind them that this planner needs to travel in their backpack to and from school every single day.

Get ready, Bulldogs! On Thursday, September 10th, Hernandez Middle School students will receive their official 2026–2027 Student Planner in Advisory to help keep the Pack organized, focused, and ready to conquer the school year.
Planner Highlights & Features:
Academic Tracking: Pre-formatted weekly and monthly calendar views to record daily homework, test scores and dates, schedule IB project deadlines, and track goals.
HERO Cards: Keep up with weekly grades and tutoring.
Subject Notes: Filled with sentence stems for writing assignments and subject specific notes to help with homework.
Durable Design: Built with a sturdy spiral binding to withstand daily backpack transit all year long.

6th Grade Parents and Guardians,
Last Friday in 6th grade Accel Science class, we officially launched our Science Fair project! The students learned about the expectations, timelines, and how to begin researching topic ideas.
Here are a few important details to discuss with your student as they get started:
Project Selection & Difficulty: We are using Science Buddies to help students explore project ideas based on their interests. When browsing, please note that students may choose projects labeled as Intermediate Hard, Advanced Easy, Advanced Medium, or Advanced Hard.
Budget & Materials: As your child researches potential projects, please talk with them about the materials required and any associated costs before they make a final decision.
Partner Projects: Some students have expressed interest in working with a partner. Because the majority of project preparation and research will be completed outside of school, please discuss this option with your student. Partners will need to coordinate schedules, divide workloads fairly, and agree on how to split any material costs.
Next Steps & Important Information:
Safety & Approval: All project proposals must be approved by me before students begin purchasing materials or conducting experiments. A google form will be placed into the Science Fair Google Classroom next week and will need to be completed by your student by September 14, 2026.

Welcome back to another exciting school year! We are thrilled to welcome our students and families back to campus as we begin the 2026–2027 school year ALL IN FOR THE PACK!
At Hernandez Middle School, we believe that every day is an opportunity for students to build meaningful relationships, develop essential skills, discover their strengths, and prepare for success in life beyond the classroom. We are excited to partner with you throughout the year as we inspire students to learn and empower them for life.
Student Schedules
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we worked to finalize student schedules. Schedules are now finalized and available through HAC (Home Access Center). Families are encouraged to log in and review their child's schedule before the first day of school. Tomorrow morning, all students will receive information directing them to their advisory location. Once in advisory, their advisory teacher will distribute the official student schedule and provide guidance on how to follow it throughout the school day.
If you have concerns regarding your child's schedule, please contact our counseling team. Our counselors will address schedule concerns as quickly as possible and assist families as we begin the school year.
Student Drop-Off & Pick-Up
As you prepare for the first day, please take a moment to review the student drop-off and pick-up signage around campus. The signage provides important information regarding designated locations for daily arrival and dismissal.
Some students and families may have a specialized drop-off or pick-up tag for a specific location based on arrangements made with the student's teacher or specialized program. Please follow the designated location associated with your child's assigned tag.
🚌 First-Day Expectations & Transportation Delays
The first several days of school are exciting and can also require a little extra patience!
Expect major delays: Traffic will be heavier than usual, and buses may run slower as drivers confirm student rosters and adjust to new stops. Allow extra time: Students should arrive at their designated bus stop a few minutes early for both morning pickup and afternoon drop-off. Expect initial overcrowding: Some buses may feel crowded during the first week or two. Ridership typically stabilizes as routines become established.
SMART Tag System
Please remember these important expectations for students riding the bus:
ID Scanning Required: Students must tap their Round Rock ISD SMART Tag card on the bus reader when boarding and exiting. Families can learn more about the system through Round Rock ISD SMART Tag.
Parent App: Families are encouraged to register for the SMART Tag Parent App to monitor student pickup/drop-off times and bus assignments.
Assigned Buses Only: Students must ride only their assigned bus and use their designated bus stop.

Throughout the week, our students pushed themselves, learned new skills, built confidence, and showed what it means to work together as a team.
